Badges & Teacher Training Program
At SAYAS Japanese School, we believe that great education is built on the growth and success of both students and teachers. Our teacher qualification system and training program are designed to provide high-quality learning while encouraging continuous development.
Certified Teacher
The teacher has completed an officially recognized Japanese language teacher training program or holds a recognized Japanese language teaching qualification, including:
- 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course
- Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test
- Registered Japanese Language Teacher (national qualification)
Experienced Teacher
An Experienced Teacher meets both of the following criteria:
- More than 2 years of Japanese teaching experience
- More than 20 regular students taught (trial lessons not included)
Teacher in Training
Teachers in Training are teachers who are currently completing SAYAS’s teacher development program.
What is a Teacher in Training?
At SAYAS, we believe that teaching ability is not determined solely by previous teaching experience. Some excellent teachers may not have had many opportunities to teach because of their personal circumstances or career path.
While many of our teachers already hold qualifications and have teaching experience, we also carefully select individuals with strong Japanese language knowledge, communication skills, and teaching potential, then provide additional training and support through our own program.
Are Teachers in Training Experienced?
It depends on the teacher.
Some already hold teaching qualifications or have experience teaching in schools, group classes, or private lessons.
Others may be newer to teaching, but all Teachers in Training complete internal training before teaching students at SAYAS.
Why Are Lessons Discounted?
Teachers in Training offer a 15% discount on their first lesson package.
In return, students help us improve our training program by providing feedback on their lessons. In some cases, students may also be invited to participate in practice lessons or other training activities. Participation is always optional.
How to Participate in Teacher Training

- Take a trial lesson with a teacher who has the Teacher in Training badge.
- Receive a discount coupon from the teacher after the trial lesson.
- Apply the coupon when purchasing your 5-lesson package.
Please note:
- Coupons are available in limited quantities. If a coupon is no longer valid when you try to use it, it means all available discounted slots have already been claimed. In that case, you can still continue lessons with the teacher by purchasing a regular lesson package.
- The discount is available only for the initial 5-lesson package. After the first package, students may continue lessons at the regular rate.
- Each student may use the training program discount only once with each teacher.
