Teaching Style

  1. I always plan my lessons with a clear structure. This means students know what to expect each time—we usually start with a short review, learn something new step by step, and then practice using it in real situations. This helps students feel more confident and stay focused during the lesson.

  2. I believe language is alive, so I try to use real, up-to-date materials in my lessons—like news articles, YouTube videos, and conversations from everyday life. This way, students can learn natural Japanese that people really use, not just textbook phrases.

  3. If you ever feel confused about grammar or vocabulary, don’t worry—I can explain it in English when needed. You can also talk to me in English if you have any questions or want to discuss your goals. I’m here to help you feel comfortable and supported!

  • Graduated from the University of Hawaii

  • Worked one year Interpreting for an international disaster relief team in Japan

  • Taught English to both children and adults at an English conversation school for one year

  • Taught Japanese at a language school in Tokyo for two years
