Do you buy souvenirs when you travel?
For yourself? Or for your family, friends, partner, and colleagues? It can be for anyone, right? Maybe you end up buying souvenirs for the people who popped into your mind during the trip. And seeing how happy they are when they receive them makes you happy, too.
Of course, you should also buy what you want! It’s a reward for all your hard work, and it becomes a memory of the trip.
Last month, I traveled to Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture. I bought souvenirs for my family, relatives, friends, and myself: tea, sweets, miso soup, books, traditional crafts, and so much more. I especially bought lots and lots of things for my adorable little niece.
Because it had been a while since my last trip, I got so excited that I ended up buying tons of souvenirs. I tried to choose items that were as light as possible, but since there were so many, the trip home was really tough. I had way too much luggage. Still, even when I got home exhausted, I felt strangely happy just looking at all the souvenirs I bought.
The next day, I started feeling unwell. When I went to the hospital to get checked, it turned out I had caught the flu.
Oh no… I brought the flu home as a “souvenir”, too… (´;ω;`)
What do you think about when you buy souvenirs? Have you ever received a souvenir that made you happy, or one that felt a little awkward?
I’d love to hear your story.
