Have you ever been to karaoke?
While karaoke is a culture born in Japan, it’s now loved and enjoyed all over the world.
But did you know that in Japan, karaoke is no longer just a place to sing? ✨
These days, there are many different ways to enjoy karaoke.
For example, in rooms with a large projector, you can enjoy watching live DVDs of your favorite artists. Of course, you can sing with your friends, but you can also watch live concert videos, sing songs by your oshi, or enjoy karaoke in your own way!
On top of that, there are also karaoke venues that offer incredible food and drink menus. Some places even have a bar-like counter where you can make your own drinks and sing while enjoying them. I usually go with friends, grab some drinks, pick a theme for our songs, and compete for the highest score using the built-in scoring system or play games! 🎤🍻
Setting a specific theme, like “Summer Songs” or “Top Hits of the 2000s,” always gets everyone super hyped!
By the way, Japan also has a culture called “hitori karaoke” (solo karaoke).
Many people go to karaoke alone and sing as many of their favorite songs as they like! Solo karaoke is also recommended when you want to sing loudly and release stress, or when you have a song you want to practice. 😊
If you ever visit Japan, you absolutely have to experience a Japanese karaoke box at least once! 🎤
